The ultra-compact precision gear and the elaborate body housing realize a "silky" winding feel that has never been experienced before. SHIMANO's unique gear system that reduces the vibration level to less than half in a vibration comparison with conventional gears (our comparison), and achieves a smooth feeling without sacrificing strength by increasing the number of gear teeth that mesh with each other.

INFINITYDRIVE technology is an advanced structure that produces lower friction and lighter winding. Pinion gear is supported by the spool shaft instead of the pinion gear bearing on the spool side. Rotational resistance of the gear section has been reduced without compromising gear strength,

O-ring is placed on the pinion gear inner diameter support of the spool shaft.
Reducing play between both parts contributes to improved handle rotation feel.

The reverse tapered spool corrects the winding shape and reduces spool vibration.

The spool balance after spooling has a significant impact on casting performance. The beginning of the line spooling is particularly important. The newly developed Magnum Light Spool IV features a reverse-tapered shape that is ultra-thin and designed for extremely low inertia. It winds the line evenly and consistently. A well-spooled, balanced spool reduces spool vibration during casting, resulting in improved performance.

By applying slight pressure to the bearing holding the spool, SilentTune reduces the vibration of the bearing during high-speed rotation. This improves the quietness while casting and the rise of the spool rotation becomes even smoother.

DC brake system perceives the changing spool speed and controls brake power with microcomputer, and provides the cast-performance of long distance and anti-backrash. I-DC5 brake is the combination of 3 modes: FL (Fluoro), P (PE), N (Nylon), with 5 dial adjustments to enable precise and eazy settings.

S-Compact Body provides the confortable palming body by making the palming side plate smaller than the handle side plate.

S A-RB bearings are put through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB bearings but feature shields on both sides of the bearings. These shields reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the rotation of the bearing.
