INTRODUCING SHIMANO KAIRIKI 8+:
THE NEXT GENERATION IN PE FISHING LINES

In the world of fishing, the quality of your line can make or break your experience. Shimano, the world leader in fishing tackle innovation, has developed a groundbreaking product that aims to redefine the standards of PE lines. After years of Kairiki 8 proving itself Kairiki 8+ is the latest addition to their impressive lineup, offering a unique combination of strength, durability, and ease of use that promises to enhance every angler's fishing adventure.

The development of Kairiki 8+ began with a clear objective: to address the common issues anglers face with traditional PE lines. These issues include line entanglement, insufficient abrasion resistance, and difficulty in handling. Shimano's engineers, in collaboration with experienced instructors Masataka Yukawa, Kenji Kuroda, and Hitomasa Shimada, embarked on a comprehensive research and testing journey. Through extensive material verification in the lab and rigorous field tests, they refined the technology and materials to create a PE line that stands out in the market.

One of the key advancements in Kairiki 8+ is its renewed three-layer coating, which utilizes Toyobo's innovative Izanas SF600 material. This new material significantly enhances the line's water repellency, smoothness, colour clarity, and colour durability. The outermost layer of the line is treated with a silicon-based coating, providing exceptional water repellency and smoothness, which is crucial for reducing friction and ensuring smooth casting and retrieval.

Kairiki 8+ also features high adhesion resin and chromogenic improved resin, which play vital roles in maintaining the line's colour clarity and fade durability. These resins ensure that the line retains its vibrant colour even after prolonged use in various fishing conditions. This not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of the line but also makes it easier for anglers to track and control the line in the water.

The unique construction method used in Kairiki 8+ forms a highly crystallized layer on the fibre surface of the PE line. This crystallized layer, combined with the silicon coating, significantly improves the line's abrasion resistance. During development, the engineers focused on achieving the perfect balance of tension and firmness. This balance is crucial to preventing backlash and guide entanglement, two common problems with conventional PE lines. The result is a line with exquisite tension that does not impair the action of the lure, allowing for precise and controlled movements.

Kairiki 8+ will come in both multicolour for anglers trying to fish precisely at depth and “Mantis Green” for visibility in tracking lures or baits. Available from PE 0.6 (6lb)  all the way up to PE 8 (80lb) and in lengths of 150 metres, 300 metres and 3000 metre bulk spools Kairiki 8+ will be the new go-to choice for discerning anglers across the country.

Anglers who have used Kairiki 8+ have reported remarkable improvements in their fishing experience. Many Australian Pro Staff involved in testing the line for Australian conditions  highlighted the line's excellent straight-line strength and sensitivity. Many noted that the line's tension and firmness solve many issues associated with traditional PE lines, such as backlash and entanglement. The line's finely engineered balance between supple and stiffness allows it to drop straight even in windy conditions, making it ideal for both spinning and baitcast reels.

Dean Silvester, praised the line's performance in offshore fishing, particularly in windy conditions. Kairiki 8+ allows for smooth releases from the spool, enabling anglers to cast into the wind with ease. This is especially advantageous when using larger lures with higher air resistance. The line's durability and resistance to fluffing ensure that it remains reliable even after extensive use.

Kairiki 8+ by Shimano is a game-changer in the world of PE fishing lines. With its advanced three-layer coating, superior abrasion resistance, and carefully balanced tension and firmness, it addresses the common challenges faced by anglers and provides a more enjoyable and successful fishing experience. Whether you are targeting big fish in tough conditions or seeking a trouble-free fishing trip, Kairiki 8+ is the ideal choice for anglers of all levels.
