When fighting large fish the reel is required to have not only a large line capacity but also a reliable drag system. Lever drag systems have many advantages, namely it is easy to achieve high drag pressures and allow for instantaneous and accurate drag adjustments, however they also have the disadvantage of higher drag settings resulting in heavier handle rotation. In order to minimise this the Ocea Jigger LD is equipped with a double drag structure with two drag washers, this successfully produces high drag force with low thrust and significantly less binding achieving up to 30% reduction in rotational resistance when compared to conventional models of the same size. Furthermore, the drag lever adopts a cold forged lever designed exclusively for Ocea Jigger LD which is highly rigid and a convenient shape to enable smoother drag operation.

Maximum drag force 20kg. Maintains stable drag force with low thermal runout.

The maximum drag force of the Ocea Jigger LD is 20kg. This refers to the drag force with the lever in the full position, when the preset is tightened to the maximum, whilst retaining full free-spool. In addition, the highly durable drag system, which is less prone to heat sagging then the star drag system, reduces loss of drag force by approximately 25% when compared to Ocea Jigger 2000 under certain conditions. It is easy to maintain stable drag pressures even when interacting with large fish that overuse the drag, supporting a safe fight.

Achieves high drag force in a compact body.

The Ocea Jigger LD, which uses a lever drag system, achieves a maximum drag force of 20kg despite it's body size being comparable to the Ocea Jigger 2000. It even exceeds the maximum drag force of 18kg of the Ocea Jigger 4000, the largest size Shimano jigging reel with a star drag. It's compact body allows anglers to comfortably hold the reel in the palm of the hand which is an overwhelming advantage when fishing with heavy jigs for long periods of time.

Special attention to jigging-specific design throughout.

Ocea Jigger LD is also designed specifically for jigging with attention to finer details such as lightweight and ease of palming. The premise is to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity and durability. For example, the drive gear has been made 12g lighter by cutting out weight, and the handle knob has been made 12% larger to improve operability while the weight has been reduced by making the insert aluminium and adopting a hollow structure. Following the design philosophy common to the Ocea Jigger series, the handle has a compact feel that fits comfortably in the hand, and the frame shape makes it easy to grasp and thumb if required. In addition, the handle uses a high-rigidity cold forged 105mm handle arm that does not lose force and allows for light winding. The handle knob, which is angled at an exquisite angle makes it easier to apply force to make jigging more comfortable.

The stopper button, which stops the lever securely at the strike position, reduces the risk of over-tightening the drag accidentally for anglers not accustomed to lever drags, and is also effective for targeting mid-water species. The stopper button can also be turned off when jigging for species that requires anglers to attack and defend near reefs, or for experts who do not need the stopper.

Ocea Jigger LD can be customized to more suitable specifications depending on the experience level of the angler and the characteristics of the target fish. If you replace the standard drag cam that is initially built into the product with the included light line cam, the change in drag force will be smoother, making it compatible with games using PE size 1.5 to 2.5.
