The Catana Trolling Lite is designed for trolling with live-baits and small lures and is available in four power ratings from 6lb up to 20lb. The full-carbon blank is remarkably slim, very sensitive and has a great semi-parabolic action to compensate for the use of light lines.
If you have never tried light line trolling, you should, its great fun and can be exceptionally successful for the smaller sized pelagic species. Unfortunately, not many charter boats cater for this type of fishing, but with the price of a Catana Trolling Lite costing less than a day’s boat fishing, the option for you to own your own specialist rod has never been better. And if you have access to a small boat, try in-shore trolling for smaller species like Sea bass, bonito and even mackerel.
The Catana Trolling Lite is made from Full Carbon, which is why the blank is so slim and feels lightweight and responsive. In the lighter strengths the semi-parabolic action is great fun to use, whilst the stronger models have plenty of power for medium sized pelagic species. Interestingly, the Seaguide Stainless Steel guides are 'spiral mounted' onto the blank. This configuration, which is noticeably different compared to a traditional guide set-up, takes the line from the top of the rod at the base guide to the underside of the rod through the playing section. This results in better line flow and a more pure playing action. A lightweight aluminium reel seat complements the EVA fore-grip and ensures maximum comfort and security when fighting big fish.
