This Year Shimano joins the biggest European Fishing tournament, the European Fishing League. Shimano takes battles against teams from Westin, Abu Garcia, Rapala and CWC during 6 days of intense fishing for Pike, Perch and Zander. The tournament consists of 2 parts, one in the Netherlands and one in Finland.
Meet our EFL teams
In the first part our two predator anglers Pawel Karwowski and Nick Buys fish for perch, zander and pike in the Dutch river delta. During two boat days and one shore day they need to catch as many big fish as possible so they can to take home the points. These points will give the other Shimano team in part 2 a head start in points and in fishing time, so it’s vital they catch big fish, and many of them!
EFL Competition rules
On the first day it’s perch only and the target is: 4 perch. On the second day the target is multi species: 2 Perch, 2 Zander, 1 Pike. On the last day the teams will fish from the shore looking to land 2 Perch, 2 Zander and 1 Pike.
The minimum size for the pike is 65 centimeters, for the perch 35 centimeters and the zander 50 centimeters. Live Technology is only allowed during the last two hours of Multi Species Boat Day and forbidden during the rest of the competition, so this is really a game of true angling ability.
The second part is fished in Finland and the Shimano team will consist of experienced tournament angler Pelle Seth and pike specialist Jesper Wedin, both from Sweden. The fishing area is the Vasa Archipelago in Finland. Finland has over 168.000 lakes so plenty of water and plenty of fish to target. The second part will be a thoroughbred pike competition of 2 days of fishing with a target of 8 pike per day. So expect some mayhem in the land of a thousand lakes. The quest for pike is on! Will they find them?
