As the name describes, the STC Monster range is designed for big, powerful predators in both fresh and saltwater environments. Available in 2.40m and 3.15m lengths, with a casting weight of 28-110g, these brilliant short transport length rods make superb holiday travel rods.
The STC Monster is a beast of a range. The perfect rods when you want to focus on monster fish in fresh or saltwater, they makes fantastic holiday rods for the casual big fish angler or the perfect solution for the serious travel enthusiast. The 2.40m is perfect for casting your largest lures, like big stickbaits, small and medium poppers or crankbaits, when fishing from a boat. The 3.15m version has even more casting potential and is great for casting lures from the bank or to extreme range for distant feeding fish. Whichever STC Monster you prefer, and some anglers we know have both to cover every eventuality, you can be certain it will go head-to-head with any monster you might run into.
The STC Monster rods are made from Full Carbon blanks that benefit from HPC (High Pressure Carbon) technology. This construction ensures that they have the strength required to control large, powerful predators and combined with a moderately fast action, can be relied upon in the most demanding situations. Both models have a casting weight of 28-110g, which will cover most fresh and saltwater lure sizes, and are fitted with super strong double leg Shimano Hardlite guides, which are suitable for both braid and mono lines. The full EVA Handle and strong Shimano DPS reel seat provide the strength and assuredness you need when fishing for, and fighting the most powerful, fast moving fish in the oceans of the world. All models come with a high quality protective carry case for easy transport.
Dave Lewis - The Shimano STC Monster is my go to travel rod for most of my tropical lure fishing. It casts a range of stick baits, poppers and metal jigs beautifully, and I find it an easy rod to fish with hour after hour beneath an unrelenting tropical sun. When a fish hits a lure it quickly proves to be a deceivingly powerful rod. With it I have caught a wide range of powerful gamefish including numerous roosterfish, cubera snapper, yellowfin tuna and many others. I am certain that when the day comes when a much larger than expected fish hits one of my lures, this rod will be able to deal with the demands put upon it.
