ZODIAS

Resonant sensitivity and accelerated operability. The world-recognized "real" style.

ZODIAS, trained in fields around the world, has been updated to further improve actual fishing performance. Highly balanced design for a nimble feel, HI-POWER X construction for improved casting accuracy and power transmission. CARBON MONOCOQUE clearly conveys changes in the water. By carefully reviewing each of these elements and integrating them at a higher level, we have refined the rod to the level of perfection required of modern bass fishing rods. We have created a reliable rod that responds to all kinds of situations by honestly pursuing its basic performance.

KEY FEATURE

Pursuing basic performance with a stoic approach, the world standard is set to an even higher level.

After six years of development, this world-renowned standard bass rod has been reborn. The third-generation model aimed for a stoic pursuit of basic performance. Technologies like the carbon monocoque grip and High Power X have been generously incorporated, and weight balance and parts have been optimized to improve operability and functionality. The lightweight feel is immediately apparent when you pick it up. Versatile performance that accommodates cutting-edge techniques while also meeting the angler's ingenuity. It also boasts ease of use that anyone can appreciate, and a subdued matte design that blends in with the reel. There's a reason this rod, which transcends its grade and is highly acclaimed worldwide, is so highly rated.

"Lightness you can feel" that doesn't appear in specs

This spinning model, which is often used with PE line, is equipped with a lightweight guide train consisting of a small-diameter butt guide. Although it is a standard model, it has been made lighter with a carbon monocoque grip, and the rear grip has been repositioned to match the action, reducing the front weight and achieving a 14.7% higher balance than the previous model. This not only reduces strain on the hand, but also significantly improves operability and sensitivity. The matte clear coating also adds a visual sense of lightness. You can feel the lightness of the handle the moment you pick it up. This lightness, which is not reflected in the specs, will further enhance your fishing resolution.

Attention to detail in the "parts" to enhance the rod's perfection

Bass fishing has become increasingly diverse in recent years. Not only rigs but also lines made of nylon, fluorocarbon, and even PE line have become commonplace. With the third-generation Zodias, we've reviewed each and every one of its parts and specifications, optimizing the details of each item to meet the full range of modern bass fishing needs. The carbon monocoque grip is a symbol of this. The reason we've generously incorporated Shimano's unique technology is to enhance the rod's overall quality.

Closed type hook keeper that prevents line tangles

In response to the increasing diversity of rigs in recent years, all Zodias models are equipped with Shimano's proprietary new hook keeper. Even Texas rigs can be stored without removing the hook, and of course, it's also compatible with hard baits. The closed design prevents the line from getting caught, allowing it to securely hold various types of hooks. The width is designed to accommodate monofilament lines up to 25 lb, reducing damage to the line. This convenient design prevents trouble during travel and standby.

Lightweight guides that contribute to the overall balance of the rod and improve sensitivity

In response to the recent trend towards ultra-thin PE lines, we have changed to a small-diameter, lightweight guide train for the spinning model. This has resulted in a weight reduction of approximately 1.5g in the guide section. This, combined with the newly designed rear grip, has significantly improved the balance and sensitivity of the entire rod.

Uplocking compact grip that supports delicate and accurate operation

The spinning model's grip has been redesigned with an up-locking, compact grip that emphasizes ease of grip when manipulating the blank. It fits securely in the palm of your hand, facilitating delicate operation and precise line management, including line slack control. In addition to hard baits, modern spinning approaches are rapidly evolving, including mid-depth fishing, reaction downshots, and power finesse. This newly designed grip provides powerful support for the diversifying nature of spinning fishing.

Matte black color that enhances the visual unity with the reel

The third-generation Zodias has been completely redesigned from the previous model's spartan look, adopting a matte black finish with reduced shine. The subdued tone is highly compatible with reels, blending naturally with simple silver and chrome reels as well as reels with contrasting colors, creating a sense of visual unity. Beautiful tackle gives a professional impression, which alone helps anglers to concentrate better. This is a carefully crafted design that combines looks with practicality.

Carbon monocoque grip that clearly transmits underwater information to your hand

The rear grip uses Shimano's unique "carbon monocoque grip" with a hollow, one-piece molded structure. With 130% greater sensitivity than conventional grips, it clearly transmits minute changes in the water to your hand. You can sense all kinds of information, from the texture of the bottom to the initial movement of a bite and even line slack. The sensitivity and lightness are especially effective in severe conditions. This is one of the core mechanisms behind Zodias' highly balanced setting.

Reinforced structure that reduces twisting of the blank and improves power transmission

The outermost layer of the blank is tightened in an X-shape with carbon tape, suppressing twisting of the blank and enhancing power transmission. When casting, you can accurately send the lure to the target spot. The sharp tension contributes to reliable hooking and allows for powerful fights around cover with ease. The slender blanks are packed with a strong backbone. This is Shimano's world-renowned, trusted blank technology.

IMPRESSION

Easy to use and highly sensitive, compatible with cutting-edge techniques

Kenshi Kuroda

A combination of a small crankbait and a bait finesse reel is effective.

166L-G

This model can be effectively used with small crankbaits under 7g and bait finesse reels. The L-power G (glass composite) is the first in the Zodias lineup. As it is a composite with a higher amount of more flexible glass fiber than taut carbon fiber, it bends well, making it easy to cast light plugs, and if there is a bite, it will hook firmly and greatly reduce the number of missed catches. It is also effective with lightweight shad plugs.

A solid tip model suitable for bottom fishing with worms

166MH-S

The "S" stands for solid tip. For convenience, it is called MH power, but if I were to describe it in my own words, it is a rod that combines an M power solid tip with an H power tubular rod from the belly to the butt. The tip is very flexible, allowing the fish to be firmly attracted and bitten, and then hooked firmly at the strong base. For example, it is suitable for bottom fishing with worms, such as free rigs and leaderless down shots.

Easy-to-handle swimbait and big bait compatible rod

166H-SB

The SB designation is a testament to the rod's compatibility with swimbaits and big baits. At 6 feet 6 inches, it's neither too long nor too short, making it effective for mid- to short-distance fishing with quick handling and improved casting accuracy. It's also easy to handle even in the cramped spaces of rental boats. Its H power makes it effective for not-too-big big baits in the 1-2 oz. class, as well as larger topwater plugs, feathered lures, and 6-inch shad tail worms.

The solid tip with tension improves operability for all types of worms.

1610M-S

The M Power tubular rod is joined by an M Power solid tip, giving it a tip action specialized for soft baits. It's different from the versatile 1610M, which can also be used for reeling. The stiff solid tip allows the rod tip to bend, enhancing maneuverability for all types of worms, including Texas rigs, free rigs, heavy darts, and high-density no-sinkers. This is the Zodias version of the Exspride 1610M-S.

Glass composite model compatible with various crankbaits

170ML-G

The long-awaited return of the glass composite model that was popular among crank anglers on the original Zodias. It's easy to cast small crankbaits in the 7g class, and its 7-foot length makes it perfectly suited to mid- to deep-water crankbaits from 1/2oz and up. The flexible yet long blank makes it compatible with a variety of crankbaits.

A finesse model that allows you to fully enjoy light rig fishing from the shore.

262SUL

Rather than being a delicate, ultra-finesse model, this model is perfect for enjoying light rigs from shore, regardless of the size of the fish. The straight bend allows for a firm hold on any lightweight rig, making it extremely easy to cast, and the blank's inherent bend makes it easy to cast long distances. The softer taper allows it to follow the fish's movements, allowing you to fully enjoy the fight.

High operability allows you to skillfully control Neko rigs and Wacky rigs

262ML−S

This rod is based on the action of the 263L-S, one of the most popular models in the exploding spinning reels. The blank has been slightly stiffened from L to ML and shortened by 1 inch, resulting in a highly maneuverable model. It offers direct maneuverability with a variety of rigs, including Neko rigs, jig head wackies, and long, thin worms.

Mid-Stage Special that effectively transmits action to underwater rigs

265UL+

The popular Expride model, also known as the Mid-Water Special, is now available in a Zodiac version. The rod tip is easy to swing quickly, effectively transmitting action to the rig underwater. The taper is designed for mid-water casting using jig heads, as well as surface hob-casting and bottom casting.

A power finesse specialized model that instantly pulls the lure out of the cover

 268MH

This model is specialized for power finesse. The 270MH+ in the Expride line has a soft tip that makes it easier to cast lightweight rigs like Neko rigs and small rubber jigs, but this model is set up with a focus on hooking. It has enough power to instantly hook the fish when you sense a bite in complex cover and pull it out of the cover in an instant.

CARBON MONOCOQUE

Carbon Monocoque grip is a carbon-molded grip that is lightweight with high sensitivity, transferring even the smallest vibration to an angler’s hand. The Carbon Monocoque Grip increases sensitivity by 30% compared to traditional rod handles and utilizes a hollow structure that eliminates unnecessary parts of the rear grip to improve weight reduction and vibration transmission.

HI-POWERX_RD
HI-POWER X

Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.

HI-POWERXSOLID_RD
HI-POWER X SOLID

The flexible solid tip is reinforced with ultra fine carbon tape. This reinforcement suppresses power loss due to twisting without hindering the delicate bending of the solid tip. Cast accuracy, operability, and sensitivity has been dramatically enhanced by the application of HI-POWER X Solid.

EXCITETOP_RD
EXCITETOP

EXCITE TOP is a special designed tip that enhances shake performance and sensitivity. The EXCITE TOP is a tapered tip section, which is in the top a bit heavier. The tip is hard and the intermediate part is slightly soft. By making a gap in the hardness, the swing width of the tip expands, enabling shaking with an automatic feeling. The sensitivity seen by the eyes, and the sensitivity transmitted to the hands is greatly improved.

TAFTECINFINITY_RD
TAFTEC INFINITY

TAFTEC INFINITY realizes 3 times the winding strength and 5 times the winding amount of our conventional solid tips. It is a high intensity solid tip that surpasses the strength and sensitivity of Taftec α.

CI4+_RD
CI4+

CI4 is a Shimano original material reinforced with carbon fiber that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material and is 2.5x more rigid than its predecessor. While improving lightness and rigidity, reel bodies, rotors and reel seats built with CI4+ are further reduced in size and weight.
