The superb long range casting performance of the Ultegra Surf J is generated by combining a selection of SHIMANO’s advanced carbon technologies. The High Modulus Full Carbon blank is built with HPC (High Pressure Carbon). This creates an exceptionally lightweight blank with a superb fast action and generates incredible tip speed. The inclusion of Nanosheet increases strength and overall response during casting and fish-playing, whilst SHIMANO’s exclusive Diaflash technology reduces blank twist when under pressure and increases tip recovery as the lead is released.

The wide range of 13 models includes a rod for almost every preference and long range situation. The sleek 3-piece design is available in three lengths (4.05m, 4.25m, and 4.50m) in a selection of optimal casting weights ranging from 200 to 250g and features a Fuji DPS reel seat, Shimano Cast Control Grip and two choices of guide design - Fuji Low Rider (L) and regular Fuji K-Type. The tubular tip models offer slightly more casting potential, whilst the hybrid models offer more sensitivity as they have a spliced tip.
