The STC Boat range has super compact rods that cover a wide range of boat fishing styles depending on the model chosen, including regular jigging (large softbaits, metal jigs, pilk), casting with lures (large hardbaits and poppers) and even light game (trolling with medium sized lures).
If your preferred style of fishing is from a boat you’ll certainly appreciate the short travel length and superb performance of whichever STC Boat rod you choose. Great for serious travelers, or even casual holiday anglers, there are 4 models in the range. If you prefer bottom type fishing with either lures or baits, the shorter lengths of the 2.18m models will provide you with serious power. These rods will also cope with light game trolling in tropical waters. If you prefer to cast lures, select one of the 2.40m models, which will handle the largest lures, in the toughest of situations. All models pack down into a compact protective case for easy transport.
The reassuringly strong, fast action of the STC Boat rods is produced using High Modulus Full Carbon plus Nanosheet blanks. This creates remarkably lightweight rods that also have the required power to tame predators the world over. The 4-piece design ensures a short pack length, yet when assembled, the rods adopt a seamless fighting curve that is sure to give you immense pleasure when playing hard fighting fish. Fitted with a full EVA Handle, that has a rubber base for increased fish-playing comfort, the STC Boat is also fitted with Seaguide Black Hero guides for strength and a Shimano DPS reel seat that will accommodate the largest reels.
All models come with a high quality protective carry case for easy and safe transport.
Dave Lewis - The Shimano STC Boat is one of my favourite models in this superb range of travel rods. For many years now I have used the 20-30lb class version almost exclusively during frequent trips to Norway and Iceland, where it has handled with ease countless cod to over 50lb, coalfish to over 30lb and halibut approaching 100lb. It’s forgiving yet powerful action makes for easy work when fishing the heavy pirks and shads I typically use in these deep, cold Arctic seas. Further, these are ideal rods for fishing throughout the tropics, too, notably for species including tarpon, tuna and even billfish. The rod has the perfect action for fishing with both monofilament and braided lines.
