The Cardiff Dart Heat is a sinking lure designed for fishing the bottom, especially for Rainbow trout during the winter and coldwater period. The head-down, stand-up position when resting makes it ideal for small movement jigging along the bottom from the bank or boat.
Whilst the Cardiff Dart Heat was originally designed for Rainbow trout, make no mistake, this is a great lure to use for many small predators, especially when the temperature drops and they start to move to deeper depths. You can fish the Dart Heat up in the water using a rise and fall technique, especially from a boat where you can get above the fish, but its real strength is when it is ‘bottom-skipped’ using small jerks and pauses. With a head-down, stand-up position when stationary, this is a great lure to use when the fish are lethargic but will snatch at a bait presented right in front of them.
