All of us at Shimano are deeply saddened from the tragic death of Jose Wejebe. He was very much part of ‘Team Shimano’ since the 1980’s – working with us on developing new saltwater tackle, field-testing rods and reels in not only the Florida Keys, but also in his travels to great fishing destinations around the world.

We relied on Jose – and we credit him greatly for our success in the saltwater fishing world. Jose taught many of us – both the Shimano crew here in the U.S. and also our team members around the globe – how to catch tarpon, bonefish, grouper, snapper and sharks – and most importantly, he became a close friend. Just think – we were able to fish with one of the best and call it work. Jose made life good!
