CITICA REELS FEATURE LIGHTER FRAME -
IRVINE, Calif. -- New for 2009 — Simplifying its baitcasting reel line-up, Shimano revamps its Citica reels with the new Citica 200E and left-hand retrieve 201E. Both with 6.3:1 gear ratios to retrieve 27-inches of line per crank, the new Citica E reels will handle from 180 yards of 8-pound test line, up to 110 yards of 14.

Both reels weigh in at just 7.8-ounces, with the aluminum frame, graphite sideplates, drilled handle shank and an aluminum Lo-Mass spool all contributing to the light weight. “Anglers looking for a solid performance in lightweight, low-profile casting reel have it all with the Citica E reels,” said Jeremy Sweet with Shimano’s product development staff. “With its line capacity, casting smoothness from our Super Free pinion gear support system, and fish moving power from High Efficiency Gearing (HEG), the Citica 200E and 201E are ideal for freshwater bass action, and also in the salt for redfish, sea trout, calico bass and other inshore species.”

Both Citica E reels offer other proven Shimano features including Super Stopper II with Assist Stopper, QuickFire II clutch bar, Dartanium drag, and Variable Brake System (VBS) with Reduced Mass Hub. “We also use four bearings at key stress points, including three shielded stainless steel bearings and one stainless steel roller clutch bearing,” notes Sweet.
