IRVINE, Calif. 7/06 -- With more and more anglers discovering the success of fishing out of kayaks, Shimano addresses their tackle storage needs with the new Bristol Bay dry tackle bags and cooler. Both the large and medium size tackle bags, and the 24-can capacity cooler, have heat-pressed lids to prevent water entry, are constructed from a water-resistant heavy-duty tarpaulin material, and the storage compartment are made of insulated PVC material to keep valuables dry.
The main compartment in the two tackle bags can also be used as a livewell with the use of a battery-power air pump. Simply put the air hose through a hole designed on the backside of the bag. Both bags features a zippered mesh pocket for holding the air pump or for additional storage needs.
Especially when used in a kayak, the Bristol Bay bags with will float up to 40-pound of tackle and gear when the top lid is properly zipped. The large bag will hold up to five 370 size utility boxes, while the medium Bristol Bay bag holds up to five 360 sizes boxes.
“While we designed the Bristol Bay bags with features appealing to kayak anglers, they are also ideal for fly-in trips to remote lakes in Canada, flats and center console boats to keep gear dry from salt spray, and any body of water where you’re fishing out of an open boat with little protection from the elements,” said Ted Sakai, product manager for Shimano’s Gear line. “Our patent-pending design with the heat-press lid and two-layer insulated construction will mean dry tackle, protection for cameras and other gear, and we can even help keep your fish alive.”
