• REELS —

CALAIS DC 4X8 DIGITAL CONTROL BAITCASTING REELS: The next evolution in digital cast control system is offered in Shimano’s new Calais 200DC and left-hand retrieve 201DC reels. A unique new 4x8 Digital Control braking system provides exceptional casting distance and backlash control. There are 32 different settings, eight in each of four modes - extreme mode for competition distance casting; long distance for normal fishing situations; accuracy mode for pitching and skipping low spool speed lures and also when fishing crankbaits; and a wind mode when the conditions prevent most anglers from using a baitcasting reel. CURADO 300DSV BAITCASTING REEL: Line capacity, high speed gears, castability, comfort and maneuverability - the benefits of a low-profile casting reel with the features and capacity to tackle big freshwater species like pike and muskie, and in the salt for peacock bass, snook and beachfront tarpon, bull reds and schoolie tuna, are now all offered in Shimano’s new Curado 300DSV deep spool reel. Loaded with proven Shimano baitcasting reel features, fast 6.2:1 gear ratio, and HEG gearing.

CURADO 100DSV/CITICA 100DSV-200DSV BAITCASTING REELS: Shimano offers its deep spool design for added line capacity with the CU-100DSV, and CI-100DSV and 200DSV reels. All three models - with high-speed 6.2:1 gear ratios - are ideal for saltwater coastal areas and flats, and certain bass fishing techniques.

TORIUM 50 SALTWATER REEL: The largest star drag reel in its product line-up for bottom fishing, trolling and Ulua fishing off the Hawaiian Islands, Shimano’s new Torium (TOR) 50 reels offer both power and speed with High Efficiency Gears and 6.2:1 gear ratios to crank in line fast. The TOR-50 features Shimano’s exclusive AR-B (anti-rust) bearings. Super Stopper with Assist Stopper, an aluminum frame, stamped aluminum right sideplate and an aluminum braced graphite left sideplate. Its aluminum spool has the capacity to hold from 490 yards of 40# test up to 440 yards of 50#.

TEKOTA 300/300LC CONVENTIONAL REELS -- MID-YEAR ’06 INTRODUCTION: Additions to the Tekota series include the new 300 and 300LC (line-counter) reels, sized for lighter line situations such as planer board trolling or casting crankbaits and surface lures for walleyes, walleye planer board trolling, spring Coho salmon action, inshore saltwater use and also when dead sticking for big smallmouth bass in waters such as Lake Erie and Sturgeon Bay.
Features on both include 4.2:1 gear ratios, 3 A-RB bearings in key stress points, a one-way A-RB roller bearing, diecast aluminum frames - plus the 300LC includes Shimano’s sealed maintenance port.

TYRNOS 20II AND 30II TWO-SPEED TROLLING REELS -- MID-YEAR ’06 INTRODUCTION: With both 5.0:1 high speed and 2.0:1 low speed gear ratios, the Tyrnos trolling reel series with the new 20II and 30II two-speed models. On high-speed, the reels will retrieve 45-inches of line per crank, and 18-inches of line on the low-speed setting. The two-speed gearing is designed so that changing from high to low and back is quick and easy with no gear meshing, even when fighting a fish.
To provide control when dropping back baits or lures when trolling, the reels are designed with a deduced profile top crossbar for convenient access to the spool.


• Rods —

TIRALEJO SURF RODS: With unique ‘Slip ‘N’ Grip’ reel seat and other new rod construction technology Shimano introduced in the past two seasons, the Tiralejo surf rod series includes nine casting models and five spinning models. The casting rod and an 8-foot and 9-foot spinning rod also feature Fuji LC guide frames to add the casting distance.
Shimano also offers an optional counter balance system so the Tiralejo rods can be perfectly balanced no matter where anglers prefer to place their reel on the rear grip. ICAST New Product Showcase winner - Best New Saltwater Rod

TALAVERA SALTWATER RODS: Offered in sizes and actions to address most saltwater fishing situations, and also specific models with actions and components to address more specific fishing techniques found off the East Coast, Southeast, Southwest gulf waters and on the West Coast, Shimano introduces the new Talavera boat, stand-up and trolling rods.
The nine casting and six spinning boat rods and 11 regional-specific Talavera rods feature either graphite composite or Shimano’s Aeroglass blank construction. On the boat and Northeast-specific models, rod components include Fuji aluminum oxide guides. For the Southeast, Southwest and West coast rods, Shimano uses AFTCO roller stripper and tip guides, and aluminum reel seats and gimbals.

TREVALA BUTTERFLY JIG RODS: Shimano adds to its Butterfly Jig rod series with two new short, heavy action ‘long jig special’ rods for use with its 7.5- and 9-inch Butterfly jigs, the TVC-58XXH conventional and TVS-58XXH spinning rods.
According to Robby Gant with Shimano’s rod development staff, these short, heavier-action models (rated up 200# test braid on the TVC58-XXH, up to 100# braid on the TVS-58XXH) when combined with a high-speed/powered reel can provide an even more erratic action on the long jigs as they are worked through the water column. Suggested retail: $149.99

CRUCIAL BASS RODS: Shimano expands it top-of-the-line bass rod series with four new spinning rods. For smallmouth anglers, the series now includes the 7’2” CRS-X72M and 7’6” CRS-76M, both constructed with extremely sensitive IM-9 graphite blanks and designed for use with tubes and grubs.
Engineered with TC4 blank construction for both durability and sensitivity, crankbait (and jerkbait) anglers are offered the 7’ CRS-CX70ML and 7’4” CRS-C74M.
Suggested retail for all four models: $149.99.

CONVERGENCE/SOJOURN CARP RODS: With more and more anglers specifically targeting big carp - they are found in waters everywhere and offer a great fight - Shimano introduces two new 7’7” casting rods designed with carp fishing in mind. They include the Convergence CVS-77HT featuring an IM-6 graphite blank, and the Sojourn SJC-77HT with a graphite composite blank. Suggested retail: CVS-77HT - $79.99; SJC-77HT - $39.99.

SOJOURN MUSKIE RODS: Featuring carboloy tip guides and durable graphite composite blanks, Shimano’s continues to answer the needs of muskie anglers with the new Sojourn 7’ muskie rods - the medium-heavy SJC-M70MH and heavy action SJC-M70H. Shimano now offers 20 muskie rods through its Compre, Convergence and now new Sojourn series. Suggested retail: $39.99.

TALORA TROLLING RODS: Engineered with TC4 blank construction, Shimano adds the Talora TLA-90MC2 to its Great Lakes trolling rod series. A two-piece rod, it’s designed for the growing use of copper wire to troll lures significantly deeper than leadcore line. Suggested retail: $89.99.

• Gear —

BRISTOL BAY DRY TACKLE AND COOLER BAGS: Designed for kayak fishing use (and other open boats that offer little protection from the elements), the two sizes of tackle bags and the 20-can capacity cooler has heat-press attached lids to prevent water entry, and are constructed from a water-resistant heavy-duty tarpaulin material. A unique concept with the tackle bags is the ability to use a battery-operated air pump to convert them into a livewell. Plus they will float up to 40# when the top lid is properly zipped.

BLUEWAVE SURF BAG: Featuring Shimano’s patent-pending adjustable lure tube system to store lures vertically without tangling hooks, the new Bluewave surf bag has a front drop-down opening for easy access. Made from 1680 denier heavy-duty nylon fabric and with corrosion-resistant nylon zippers, the bag’s bottom is made with durable rubber mesh to drain and dry fast. Suggested retail: $69.99

BROADWAY SALTWATER REEL STORAGE BAG: Providing saltwater angler with the needed features to properly protect reels from the elements, Shimano expands its Broadway Modular Tackle Storage System (MTSS) with a new saltwater reel storage bag. A key design element to the Broadway reel bag is the use of ‘Intercept’ material within the inside of the bag to provide protection again corrosion, rust and mildew.

EVAIR FISHING BOOTS: Constructed from one-piece molded EVA to absorb heel shock and reduce foot fatigue from a day on the water, Shimano’s new Evair fishing boots have a non-skid, non-marking outer sole with a water-channel design to provide a no-slip grip on the boat deck. They weigh less than 10-ounces per boot, and are offered in sizes from 8 through 13. Suggested retail: $69.99. ICAST New Product Showcase winner - Best New Clothing product

BUTTERFLY JIG TACKLE BAG, STORAGE BAG, ACCESSORIES: With the extensive interest and popularity in its Butterfly Jigging fishing technique continuing to grow, Shimano offers additional Gear items to assist anglers in carrying jigs and tackle. The Butterfly tackle bag (suggested retail: $39.99) is designed to carry Shimano’s new small Butterfly Jig storage bag (suggested retail: $39.99) or two large 370-size utility boxes. The jig storage bag can store up to 18 jigs. Both bags are made from 600 Denier nylon.
To secure Butterfly jigs to the rod for transport, Shimano offers the new Butterfly Cocoons, 100-percent Neoprene wraps to keep the Dancing Stinger hooks and jigs safely attached to the rod (suggested retail: 5/pack - $19.95).
Exclusively designed for Butterfly jigging, Shimano’s new Jigging Wind-On leaders provide an easy and fast loop-to-loop connection between the main braided line and shock leader, eliminating bulky knots. Less friction is also noticed when the leader comes through the rod guides. Available in 30#, 50#, 60#, 80# and 100# sizes. Suggested retail: $19.99 to $29.99.
