IRVINE, Calif. 7/06 -- Offered in sizes and actions to address most saltwater fishing situations, and also specific models with actions and components to address more specific fishing techniques found off the East Coast, Southeast, Southwest gulf waters and on the West Coast, Shimano introduces the new Talavera boat, stand-up and trolling rods.
All the Talavera models - nine casting and six spinning boat rods and 11 regional-specific rods - feature either graphite composite or Shimano’s Aeroglass blank construction. On the boat and Northeast-specific models, rod components include Fuji aluminum oxide guides. For the Southeast, Southwest and West coast rods, Shimano uses AFTCO roller stripper and tip guides, and aluminum reel seats and gimbals.
“Our focus with the Talavera series is to provide anglers with quality construction, quality components, the right actions and lengths for some specific regional fishing applications, and all at a good price,” said Robby Gant, rod development manager for Shimano.
Talavera (TEC) boat casting rods include 6-foot casting models in heavy and extra heavy actions, 6-foot-6-inch medium and medium heavy models, and five 7-foot casting (ML, M, MH and fast taper MH and H actions) models. In spinning (TES), the line-up includes 6-foot-6-inch medium heavy and heavy rods, and four 7-foot spinning (ML, M, MH, H actions) models.
Regional-specific Talavera models include the Northeast fast taper TECE70MH and TECE70H boat rods; the Southeast TEC59MRS, 59MHRS and TEC50HRS trolling rods; Southwest TEC63HRS and TEC63XHRS trolling rods; and the West coast TEC60LRS, TEC60MRS, TEC66MLRS and the TEC66MRS trolling rods.
