Shimano's Inshore Spinning Reel: Stradic FK

Released in 2015, the Stradic FK inshore spinning reel is one of our biggest fan-favorites. The Stradic FK is a packed with the latest technologically-advanced features. Its design is inspired by our history of top performing spinning reels. After winning Best In Show at ICAST 2015 and Field & Stream Magazine's "2016 Best of the Best" spinning reel title, the Stradic proves itself time and time again to be on of the best of Shimano's offerings.

Top Stradic FK Features

Every part of the Stradic FK has been designed to improve your experience on the water. Top features like the Hagane Gear, Hagane Body, and X-Ship will keep your Stradic performing at a like-new level for years.

Hagane Body

The frame of the Stradic FK is made of our lightweight, Hagane cold forged metal. We chose highly rigid metals, aluminum and magnesium, to provide a light but extremely strong result.  The body holds and protects the gears from heavy loads and impacts to maintain their rotation performance.

The internal gearing (shown right) is the heart of why the Stradic is one of the best spinning reels available. Our Hagane gear is cold forged aluminum, which is significantly stronger than zinc die cast gears. A stronger gear extends the life of the Stradic FK.

The cold forging process applies 200 tons of pressure to raw metal at room temperature. There is zero cutting work applied to the gear. The gears are forged with high-precision and micron accuracy in one single process. Down the the cellular level, the metal structure is preserved, making it highly resistant to impact and exceptionally difficult to break.

The X-SHIP ("Extra Smooth High Power") system keeps the pinion gear in precise alignment with the drive gear, so the gears are super efficient on even the heaviest loads, not flexing, moving, or creating friction. X-SHIP means silky smooth cranking on those heavy loads, while maintaining the same level power. Since the gears aren't rubbing against each other, you have a much more durable spinning reel.

G-Free Body

The Stradic FK was one of our first reels, after the Stella, to use this feature. We moved the reel's center of gravity closer to the rod, so not as much weight hangs on the bottom, improving balance.  The more balanced design reduces fatigue and reduces overall weight. Every part has been designed to improve the anglers experience on the water.

Other features made to prevent water or sand infliltration (S A-RB Bearings), eliminate backplay (Super Stopper), and keep your reel strong, smooth, quiet and lasting forever are: Super Stopper II, S A-RB Bearings, CF Aluminum Cold Forge Spool, Dyna Balance, Fluidrive II, Power Roller II, SR-Concept, Propulsion Line Management System, Aero Wrap II. Read more about this tech on the Stradic's main page.
